YOU CAN CUT the cholesterol in your system with 15 "miracle" foods and
slash
your risk of heart attack and stroke.
According to Dr. Patrick Quillin, author of Healing Nutrients, some nutrients
can instantly dissolve LDL cholesterol, the deadly low-density lipo-protein
that clogs blood vessels and causes heart disease. The nutrients bind to
cholesterol and carry it out of your system before it can do deadly harm.
Foods high in fiber, for example, are potent cholesterol cleansers.
"Fiber is nature's broom," says Quillin. "It cleans out the
intestines and
keeps toxic substances from being absorbed.
Here are a few powerful anti-cholesterol nutrients:
Grapefruit which is pectin-rich. Pectin keeps arteries free of plaque and may
even clear already blocked arteries.
Apples are also rich in the artery-clearing pectin.
Carrots: Two a day can drop your cholesterol by 20 per cent according to the
US Department of Agriculture.
Oat bran: One cup daily reduces cholesterol.
Garlic: Dozens of studies confirm the pungent bulb banishes cholesterol.
Wheat germ contains octacosanol, a highly potent ingredient that works with
fiber to cleanse excess cholesterol.
Bananas are rich in pectin and potassium, essential for a healthy heart.
Cold-water fish which are rich in omega-3 fatty oils, one of nature's most
powerful anti-cholesterol agents.
"People who eat at least 2 ounces of fish per week cut their heart
disease
risk in half," says Quillin.
Dried beans: Beans are natural cholesterol-lowering nutrients. Nutritionists
recommend a heaping cup a day to decrease cholesterol.
Niacin, also known as Vitamin B-3, readily washes cholesterol out of your
body.
Lecithin releases choline, a B-complex vitamin, into the bloodstream, breaks
down cholesterol deposits and actually washes them right out of your system,
say nutritionists.
Ginger: "When high-cholesterol meals were fed to animals along with
ginger,
there was a major reduction in cholesterol," Quillin reports.
