FAO says 'thanks' with World Food Day awards

THE Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) on Thursday presented awards to food specialists and workers in the field of agriculture as part of World Food Day celebrations.

Receiving the silver medallion was Marion Hart, who is now on an Organisation of American States (OAS) contract with the National Council for Science and Technology. She is well known for her culinary creations using local fruit and vegetable recipes.

Two companies, the Barbados Agricultural Marketing services and Fins and Fathoms Ltd., received Bronze medals for their contribution to food production.

In additional to these, the Ministry of Agriculture presented awards to individual farmers for their contribution to the country's agricultural production. They included, Stevenson Skeete, Ivan Bourne, Charlotte Nathan, Clarence Bellamy, Tyrone Power, George Linton, Freddie Gale, Gay Reed, Dennis Eversley and Trevor Bostic.
