OFFICIALS OF the Ministry of Health now have guidelines for the prevention and
control of dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever in the Americas.

The guidelines include a well-planned integrated control programme which,
according to Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) officials, could meet
some critical requirements in the hemisphere.

The guidelines also called for improvement of potable water supplies,
sanitation, or solid waste management and housing improvements that address
water supply and sanitation.

Crucial areas which the guidelines said must also be addressed are health
education, public health communication and community participation.
