Recently the news highlighted the disgraceful condition of Farley Hill National Park.
I would have thought that places of special interest like Farley Hill would have been properly maintained, not only as a tourist attraction, but for our locals to enjoy. How can we plan to open new "tourist attractions", when the existing ones, are in this deplorable condition. The government needs to urgently address it's maintenance program, for all it's properties.
It's not only buildings that I am referring to, what about garbage trucks, buses, ambulances these all require constant maintenance, to ensure that we, the Barbadian public, get the service we deserve.
Instead of our young people pursuing degrees in law and medicine, other well paid careers could be offered ---- we need qualified town planners, engineers, plumbers, electricians etc. in this island.
Two other points -- my view is that we need an incinerator for our garbage, this would solve the severe problems we have with our garbage disposal, at this time. Finally, has any of the authorities visited the washrooms at Grantley Adams Airport departure lounge recently? They are in an unsanitary condition. Where has our "Pride and Industry" gone?
We are indeed a crisis nation, and God help us when we really have one. Better not get too perky with Uncle Sam, we could very well need his help!
