Some issues being overlooked
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

I KNOW this letter will serve no purpose other than to allow me to vent some of the frustration I feel as I travel to work.
I say that it will serve no purpose because the Government of Barbados is very occupied now with words like "referendum", "republic" and "monarchy". Issues such as traffic congestion, the state of disrepair of all roads on the island and "road hogs" (for want of a better phase) should of course take second place. And if that is not bad enough, the state of the hospital, garbage disposal and the general untidy state of our environment are also required to take a back seat.
The specific reason for this letter is the work being carried out on Highway 7, and the diversion through St. Lawrence Gap, creating havoc at an already chaotic area - Graeme Hall to Life of Barbados Roundabout and Sargeants Village of Life of Barbados roundabout. Is work being carried out 24 hours a day?
Hopefully Government ministers try travelling that route at peak time. I defy you to get from the South Coast to Bridgetown in under one hour! You're lucky if it's not 1 1/2 hours! And don't tell me to leave home earlier - I have to take some children to one of your schools and there is no way I'm dropping them off at 6:45 a.m. No way!
