DENGUE FEVER has apparently claimed its first victim for the year. Dead is a 24-year-old man from Orange Hill, St. James.

His death, if confirmed by laboratory tests, would bring the total to just under two dozen since the annual outbreaks in 1995 from the mosquito-borne disease which caused more than 6 400 people to become ill.

Officials of the Ministry of Health were unavailable for comment.
