A THREE-DAY mosquito hunt is on for the dengue-fever-bearing insects in West Terrace and West Terrace Gardens.
Environmental health officers from the Black Rock Polyclinic are doing searches of all premises from as early as 7 a.m. today.
It comes against a background of cases of dengue fever in the area and findings of many mosquito breeding sities. Approximately one in every 20 homes inspected has been found with mosquitoes breeding on the premises.
To complicate matters, a large number of homes have not been inspected because no one was at home at the time the officers visited. This week's mosquito hunt is aiming to inspect every home, especially those not inspected previously and officers are seeking the co-operation of residents.
